Color theory for palettes

A good color palette is based on harmonious relationships on the color wheel. Our generator uses schemes such as analogous (nearby colors), complementary (opposites), triadic (equidistant), and pentadic to create visually attractive combinations.

5-color palettes are ideal for web design: a primary color, a secondary, an accent, a dark color for text, and a light one for backgrounds. Lock the colors you like and regenerate the rest until you find the perfect combination.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a good palette?

Start with a color you like, lock it, and generate until the others complement it. Use a maximum of 2-3 main colors and the rest as neutrals.

How many colors do I need for a website?

Generally 5: primary (CTAs), secondary (accents), background, text, and a highlight color. The 60-30-10 rule works well: 60% dominant color, 30% secondary, 10% accent.

Can I export the palette in other formats?

You can copy individual HEX values or all CSS variables ready to use. For other formats like RGB or HSL, use our color converter with the generated HEX values.
