Date Difference
Calculate days, weeks and months between two dates.
How the difference between dates is calculated
Calculating the difference between two dates involves considering variations in month lengths (28 to 31 days), leap years, and in professional contexts, the difference between calendar days and business days. Our calculator shows the result broken down into years, months, and days, plus the total days, weeks, and hours between the two selected dates.
This tool is useful for multiple scenarios: calculating project duration, knowing how many days until an event, determining employment seniority, calculating legal or contractual deadlines, and planning delivery dates.
Frequently asked questions
Does it count holidays?
No, the calculator works with calendar days, including all days without distinguishing between workdays, holidays, or weekends. Holidays vary by country, so they are not automatically excluded.
Does it include the start and end date?
The calculator counts the difference between the two dates, meaning it includes the start date but not the end date. For example, from January 1 to January 3 is 2 days. If you need to include both endpoints, add 1 to the result.
Can I calculate business days?
Currently the tool calculates calendar days. To estimate business days, you can multiply the complete weeks by 5 and adjust the remaining days. As a reference, a month has approximately 22 business days and a year about 250.
