Dice Roller

Virtual dice from 4 to 20 sides.

About virtual dice

Dice are chance tools that have been used for thousands of years in board games, role-playing games, and decision-making. Our virtual dice simulator lets you roll from a single die to ten dice simultaneously, with options ranging from the classic D6 (six sides) to the D100 (one hundred sides).

The probability of each result on a fair die is exactly 1 divided by the number of faces. For example, on a D6, each number has a 16.67% probability. When rolling multiple dice, possible combinations grow exponentially, creating bell-curve probability distributions where intermediate values are more frequent.

The roll history lets you keep a record of your results, useful for both role-playing sessions and probability experiments. All results are generated randomly and each roll is completely independent of previous ones.

Frequently asked questions

Are virtual dice fair?

Yes, each face has exactly the same probability of coming up. Unlike physical dice, which can have manufacturing imperfections, virtual dice use random number generators that guarantee a perfectly uniform distribution.

What are dice with more than 6 sides used for?

Polyhedral dice are mainly used in tabletop role-playing games (RPG). The D20 determines success of actions, D12 and D10 calculate weapon damage, D8 is used for medium weapons, and D4 for light weapons or minor effects. The D100 is used for percentage tables.

Can I use this for role-playing games?

Absolutely. The simulator supports all standard RPG dice (D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20, and D100) and allows rolling multiple dice at once, showing individual results and the total. It's perfect for in-person or online sessions.
